Stephen Hammond

Stephen Hammond ( born February 4, 1962 in Southampton ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party.

Life

Hammond studied at King Edward VI School, before joining the University of London and studied Economics. He then worked at a leading fund management company, and then worked for investment banks. Hammond was in 1994 head of the ordinary share department of Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. In 2000 he was appointed director of the Pan European Research. He was elected to the City Council at Wimbledon in 2001 and in 2002 he became deputy chairman of the Conservative Group on Merton Council. Since 2005, Hammond is a member of the House of Commons for the constituency of Wimbledon and was on September 4, 2012 Traffic minister ( Parliamentary Under- Secretary of State for Transport ) in the cabinet of Prime Minister David Cameron.

Hammond has been married since 1991 and has one daughter.
