Stephen Joseph Theatre

The Stephen Joseph Theatre is a theater in Scarborough in England, known for his unusual stage. The special thing about it is that viewers do not take place in front of the stage, but around them. It is also called the Theatre in the Round.

Stephen Joseph, after whom the theater is named, in 1955 came from the USA to Scarborough and brought the Theatre in the Round there. In this theater he left unknown writers publish their plays. One of them was Alan Ayckbourn. Some of his pieces were after they premiere in Scarborough, also played in major theaters in London and on Broadway.
