Stephen VII Báthory

Stephen Báthory of Ecsed (Hungarian: Báthory István ) ( † 1530) was a Hungarian nobleman and military leader. His highest position was that of the Palatine of Hungary.

He was the son of Andrew Báthory of Ecsed and nephew of Stephen Báthory, a military leader and later Voivode of Transylvania.

When Comes of Temesvár he fought in 1514 against the rebel leader György Dózsa.

In 1519 he was elected Palatine of Hungary. In this office he supported after the Battle of Mohács Ferdinand I as a candidate for the Hungarian throne.

His wife was Sophia Duchess of Mazovia. They had a daughter, Clara, who the Charles, Duke of Münsterberg married.

He died in 1530.
