Sternalice, Opole Voivodeship

Sternalitz (Polish star Alice ) is a town of about 840 inhabitants, with mayor's office in the bilingual rural community Radlau / Radłów in powiat Oleski in the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

Sternalitz located in the northeast of the Opole Province, northeast of the county town Olesno (Rosenberg OS) and in the north of Upper Silesia.

History

1614 Matthew Catholic Church was built. On September 1, 1925, the daily circulating postal service between Sternalitz and Rosenberg was opened. It was operated until January 1945. Between 27 April 1936 and 1945 it was known as buntings OS By 1945, buntings was part of the district Rosenberg OS

In 1945, buntings under Polish administration and renamed Star Alice and connected to the Silesian Voivodeship. With the division of the Silesian Province in the Opole and Katowice, the place came to Opole Voivodeship. From 1975 to 1998 Sternalitz lay in the province of Czestochowa. In 1999 the site after the dissolution of Częstochowa Voivodeship Opole Voivodeship and back to the restored powiat Oleski.

2006 Sternalitz was officially bilingual together with the community Radlau and in September 2008 bilingual town signs were erected.

Attractions

  • The Catholic parish church of St. Matthew was built in 1614 and expanded in 1927.
  • Sternalitz is one of the few places which still regularly takes place Easter ride to this day.
