Sterope (Pleiad)

Asterope (Greek Ἀστερόπη ) or Sterope ( Στερόπη ) is one of the Pleiades in Greek mythology.

She is a nymph and daughter of Atlas and Pleione the Oceanid. By Ares she was the mother of Oenomaus, king of Pisa in Elis. In other tales she was together with her sisters persecuted for a long time by Orion and eventually rescued by Zeus by having them all turned into doves, and gave as seven stars in the sky.
