Steve Burtenshaw

Steve Burtenshaw ( born November 23, 1935) is a former English footballer and football coach.

Life and career

Burtenshaw played his career with a club, Brighton & Hove Albion. After his career in late 1966 he was an assistant coach at the club. In 1971 he came to Arsenal. With the Gunners he belonged to the coaching team with head coach Don Howe. In 1973, he accepted an offer from Sheffield Wednesday and stayed for two years in Sheffield. In January 1977, he was three games interim head coach at Everton. A year later, he took over the Queens Park Rangers for a year. After his career with the Rangers in 1979, he returned back to the Gunners and was retired in 1986 as head coach Don Howe even from March to May. Burtenshaw was involved in the bribery scandal surrounding the player Lydersen and John Jensen and was then sentenced by the Football Association to pay a fine of £ 10,000. After his coaching career, he was a scout for Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City.
