Steve Hewitt

Steven James Hewitt ( born March 22, 1971 in Northwich, Cheshire ) is a British drummer. He achieved fame as a member of the band Placebo, to which he belonged from 1996 to October 2007.

Life

Hewitt grew up in the near Manchester commune in Northwich and Weaverham attended high school in the neighboring village of Weaverham. At 17 he was the drummer for the band Breed, with whom he went on tour in Germany. Furthermore, he was throughout his career a member of various bands like Electric Crayons, K - Klass, The Mystic Deckchairs The Boo Radleys and. In 1996 he moved to placebo and was part of the band for eleven years, until he left for personal as well as musical reasons on October 1, 2007. After personal statements in an interview with a Luxembourg radio stations Hewitt, however, said that he was thrown out of the band and he never wanted to leave placebo. His new band is called Love Amongst Ruin, they released their new album in 2010. Since August 2012, he is the drummer of Six by Seven.

Hewitt plays his drum kit left-handed.
