Steve Rude

Steve Rude ( born December 31, 1956 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American comic book artist.

Life and work

After Rude began in the late 1970s to work as a professional comic artist, he came in 1982 his artistic breakthrough with the philosophical sci-fi comic Nexus, which he had devised together with the author, Mike Baron. The series, which was within a short period commercially, especially but also artistically a great success, it differed from the great mass of sci-fi comics of the time due to their theming difficult issues such as debt or equity, as well as due to their complex narrative structure.

Nexus reached a total of eighty editions before the title was discontinued as a regular series, which later seven in itself nachfolgten completed miniseries. Rude designed this case a large part, if not all drawings of the books were published under the Nexus label. For his work on Nexus Rude, who is known for his smooth the conventions of the 1960s comes close to drawing style was eventually won four Eisner Awards, a Kirby Award and the Russ Manning Award.

2006 called Rude its own character studio Rude Dude Productions in life he new as a platform for the publication of his own creation, the series The Moth, which he originally developed in 2004 and the first issues of Dark Horse Comics were published, as well as for a number Nexus uses stories.
