Steve Williamson

Steve Williamson ( born June 28, 1964 in London ) is a British jazz musician ( tenor, soprano and alto saxophone, keyboards and composition).

Williamson began with sixteen years playing the saxophone and gained his first musical experience in reggae bands. 1984 and 1985 he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Subsequently, he worked mainly with their own groups. On the occasion of the Open Air Festival Birthday of Nelson Mandela in 1988, he joined together with Courtney Pine on at Wembley, then with Art Blakey at Ronnie Scott. In the same year, he starred in Louis Moholos Viva La Black and 1990 in Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath. In the 1990s, he performed not only with his own band, but also in projects of Iain Ballamy, but also with Maceo Parker, Bheki Mseleku, Us3 and Graham Haynes. It builds on the concepts of M-Base and is also open to the Acid Jazz.
