Stewart O'Nan

Stewart O'Nan ( born February 4, 1961 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American writer. He also publishes under the pseudonym James Coltrane.

Life

He first studied in Boston, worked from 1984 to 1988 as an aircraft engineer in Bethpage, New York, then went to Cornell University, where he made a degree in literature. He taught at the Universities of Central Oklahoma, New Mexico and at Trinity College in Hartford (Connecticut) and eventually moved in 1995 with his wife and two children to Avon (Connecticut).

For his novel Snow Angels, of Butler, a small town in western Pennsylvania, playing in the late fall of 1974, he received the 1993 Pirate's Alley Faulkner Prize.
