Stiftskeller St. Peter

The St. Peter monastery cellar is a restaurant in the Abbey of St. Peter in Salzburg.

History

The restaurant was founded in 803 first mentioned by Alcuin of York, the singer of Charlemagne. Therefore, it is referred to as the oldest restaurant in Central Europe.

General

The restaurant is in eleven themed rooms divided ( Baroque Hall, Haydn rooms, Felsenstube, Virgil salon, refuge, Wolfgang office, Richard Stube, civil prelate office, Petrusstube, Rupertistube and courtyard ) and offers including the arcaded courtyard can accommodate up to 850 guests. The kitchen is cooking, regional specialties such as boiled beef and Salzburg dumplings and various game dishes dominate the menu, but there are also international and exotic culinary creations and dishes for allergy sufferers offered.

Mozart Dinner Concert

In cooperation with the Salzburg Concert Society, the inn, the Mozart Dinner Concert directed several times a week. A three-course meal will be accompanied by an authentic concert with the instruments and the clothes of the time and pieces of Mozart Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Food preparation is done according to original recipes from the 17th and 18th century.
