Storavan

The Storavan is a lake in Norrbotten County in northern Sweden, whose outflow is regulated. He is älv crossed by Skellefte. It is the smallest of the three major lakes in the river system of the Skellefte älv. The other two are the westerly lakes Uddjaure and Hornavan. The water area is 172 km ² with a normal water surface elevation of 419 m. The deepest point in the lake is 21 m.

Before the last ice age Storavan had drained his discharge at its southeastern end at Avaviken and was the Byske the Gulf of Bothnia. Today, the water flows from the Storavan from the south shore via the Bergnäsälven to the adjacent lake Naustajaure. The rapids on Bergnäsälven are a popular place for recreational anglers.
