Strategic Airlines Luxembourg

Strategic Airlines S. A. Luxembourg was a charter airline based in Luxembourg City and based on the Luxembourg airport.

History

The Luxembourg Strategic Airlines arose in consequence of the loss of the operating license of the French Strategic Airlines. After the loss of the French operating license decided the Australian parent company to re- establish the French subsidiary in Luxembourg and there to apply for a Zerfitikat for aircraft operation, the Airbus A320 of the French Strategic Airlines should then fly under the Luxembourg registration and stationed on the Luxembourg airport are. The Luxembourg operating license was granted, whereupon the French Strategic daughter flew again in October 2010. Initially remained two of the three aircraft at Paris- Charles de Gaulle stationed, while only one aircraft in Luxembourg had his base.

Flight operations resumed at first with an Airbus A320 -200 with the new registration LX -STA effected, however, the fleet was the summer of 2011 strengthened and thus reactivates the two additional Airbus A320 of the French predecessor (LX - STB and LX -STC ) and integrated into the fleet.

Although the company had its seat in Luxembourg, all flights were operated from the base at Gatwick Airport in London in the summer of 2011, mainly to destinations in Greece. In summer 2011, it was also used in Strategic Luxembourg scandals, as it was noticed that there were a total of only 35 contracts, while Strategic Airlines claimed that it had 50 employees. We speculated that some employees were hired without contracts. In addition, irregularities were suspected at the beginning of the operation recording. Strategic denied that it began staff without work contracts.

The fact that an airline that had lost its French operating license due to safety concerns, only a few weeks later was able to walk with an operating license from Luxembourg back to the start, led to criticism of the Luxembourg aviation authority. This defense was that the application was made before the loss of the French Zerfitikats and that the Authority Strategic Airlines had undergone a stronger test, which did not allow for complaints.

The end of 2011 Strategic Airlines Luxembourg became negative again in local headlines. Reason for this was recorded from 15 November, on behalf of the NATO military transport flights to Arbil in Iraq and especially in Kabul Afghanistan. The crews had to perform the flights, and were not there asking if they willing circumstances for such missions, but were simply allocated to the flights. With the trade unions had also not spoken about it.

Air Australia, the Australian parent company and other group companies went into insolvency in early 2012, after which the highly indebted Air Australia - stopped operating - the former Australian Strategic Airlines. The Luxembourg subsidiary was not affected by the closure of the parent company.

In October 2012 had to Strategic Airlines S. A. cease flying for financial reasons, as an important charter contract in respect of two of the three Airbus A320, had been lost and the airline was unable to find new employment for the vacant capacities.
