Straussee
The Straussee is a glacial Rinnensee, which is named after him in the city of Strausberg Brandenburg Mark- district or country. It is located about 30 km northeast of Berlin in the forest and lakeside scenery of the eastern Barnim.
It has an area of northwest to southwest of about 3.8 km and is up to 340 m wide. The lake has a volume of 14.5 million cubic meters of water and is on average 9.9 m deep. The outflow of Lake Straus made by the post digging into the Anna flow, then in the Herrensee to Stienitzsee and on to Kalksee. Its groundwater catchment area is approximately 73 km ². After a few meters wide and up to 6 m flat shore region it falls steeply to depths of over 10 m and is (a few meters to the southwest of the ferry) at the lowest point 20 m deep. The lake is relatively rich in fish. One can find pike, perch, eels, crayfish, tadpoles, various perch and carp. The abundance of fish is exploited by a commercial fishing and many anglers. In aquaculture rainbow trout are bred.
The reason on the eastern side of town is loaded with construction debris and other waste products of civilization, but every year in April at the Strausseepartnerschaft a big clean-up of the riparian zones under - and over water instead. The western side of the forest is partially covered with " seaweed " ( Carex brizoides ) Meadows.
