Streetball

Streetball ( neologism from street and basketball ) is a variant of the sport of basketball, originally from major U.S. cities. Since the 1990s, she is also very popular in Europe. The rules of street ball is only slightly different from basketball.

General and history

With Streetball generally more than just street basketball is associated; the term is now for a special youth culture.

When Streetball any basketball court has its own rules, because this sport depends entirely on the players and their agreement with each other. Be considered high- tricks with the ball, because they are of extraordinary ball control. Limits will be set only by the creativity and it is: the acrobatic, faster, more fluid and unpredictable are the tricks, the better they will be evaluated and the more effective they are, because they confuse the opponent. It tries to trick the opponent, so that he no longer knows where the ball is or where he comes up ( Ankle - Breaker ) and the player then past him to pull to the basket. However Simples Gone by pulling against the backrest of the back is not one of them. A particularly tricky playing the ball is considered by the slicing down an opponent.

Differences for Basketball

The differences to the Basketball Hall are as follows:

  • It is mostly played three against three in one basket, but 1 on 1 ( 1 on 1 ) or 2 vs 2
  • One basket from the field is worth one point instead of two, behind the "three -point line ," two rather than three points
  • It is rarely played at the time, but usually up to a specified number of points ( usually to 11, 15 or 21)
  • There is no jump ball, but he who is first in possession, usually decides the ejection of the "three -point line "
  • After a basket gets either the attacker of the ball ( "Winners ' Ball", or "make it, take it " ), or the defender ( "Losers ' Ball ", "do it, lose it " )
  • After a basket success of the ball is the opponent usually passed with a floor pass (Check)
  • After a defensive rebound, the ball must behind the "two -point line " ( in normal basketball, this is the "three -point line " ) are brought
  • After a change of possession of the ball should be at least 2 times fit under the attacking team before the trial can begin basket ( "Mandatory Pass" )

Streetball variants

  • Do it, lose it or Lucky Loser - after each successful basket changes of possession. This is to play at least according to the rules of the German Basketball Federation, the rule conformity and official way street ball.
  • Make it, take it (also called bonus ) - the team that has scored the basket, one more time may attack. This variant makes the game for the team that just in defense (Defense) is a lot heavier than give and Born Christened
  • One on one, or 1 on 1 - In this variant of Streetball a 1 on 1 match is played on a basket.

Streetball tricks

  • Backbreaker: The backbreaker, the ball is dribbled in a flexed posture cross behind the back by your own legs.
  • Boomerang: The boomerang called the feigning a pass over the head of your opponent. This one is very close to the opponents turn and holding the ball with one hand. Then you swing the ball behind the head of the opponent and back to back. With appropriate speed the movement suggests the opponent a pass over his head, whereupon he (mostly) turns, even though the ball is still in the player. For these so-called Move, there are different variations.
  • Bounce Hypnotizer: This move is dribbled with the ball a certain amount of time before it is thrown with much force behind your back on the floor. If you turn is now very close to the opponent, the ball flies behind the back of his own opponent who does not notice this pass through the dense cover game and the high flying angle of the ball.
  • Crossover: The crossover is one of the most popular movements in streetball as well as in basketball. Here, a passing play is merely faking the opponent and then just use the other side. Example: Man fakes, right past the opponent play, but then runs overs. At high speeds, and appropriate speed of movement, it is very difficult for the opponent to keep his defense (Defense). If the opponent falls down, does this apply as ankle -breaker or down -you-go. There are also numerous other variations of crossovers, in which the feinting is the primary goal.
  • Slip ' n Slide: When you slip ' n slide, the player rolls on the floor while he was still doing dribbles the ball. Here, the player holds the ball in his left hand and turns then.
  • Through the legs: This player plays the ball through the legs of the opponent. For professional players makes this move represents a challenge
  • Tiptop: the tiptop is a variation of boomerangs. Here, the ball over the head of the opponent is so turned on that this flies vertically above the player. Here, too, a passport is fake, but the ball comes back to the player.
