Strymonischer Golf (Greek Στρυμονικός κόλπος ) denotes a golf or a marine area in the northern part of the Aegean Sea. The Golf was named after the river opens into him Strymonas. Alternatively, it is also called the Gulf of Orfanos ( Κόλπος Ορφανού ).

The Strymonic Golf bounded on the west coast of the peninsula of Chalkidiki. In the north the coastal Eastern Macedonia formed around the mouth of the river Strymonas the limitation to the projection of the Pangeo and Symvologebirges in the Aegean Sea. To the south and thus the open sea of the Aegean Sea, the boundary forms a line between the peninsula of Stratocumulus Niki with the cape Elefthera in Halkidiki and the promontory of Pangeo Mountains. The western and southwestern boundary of the Strymonic Gulf can also be set further south at Cape Akrita the Athos peninsula. In the east, the Gulf Strymonische adjacent coastal side of the Gulf of Kavala, which is north of the island of Thasos. Separated by the peninsula of Stratocumulus Niki can be found south of the Gulf of Ierissos (or Gulf of Acanthus ).

The Strymonische Golf is a section in the northeast Aegean Sea or the Thracian Sea. Its depth does not exceed as part of the territory of the North Aegean continental shelf 200 m. In its eastern part (according to another opinion already the Gulf of Kavala ) found the only arable oil deposits in Greece. The entry of freshwater happens for the most part by the river Strymonas. However, also drain the lakes in the basin mygodonischen, the Volvi Lake and the Koroneia lake, over the small river Richios in the Strymonic golf. From the Chalkidiki strymonische Golf does not receive significant amounts of fresh water.

Landside boundaries the regional districts on the peninsula Chalkidiki, Serres, Thessaloniki and Kavala to the Strymonic golf. Towns and villages along its coast are on the Chalkidiki Olymbiada, the Regional District Thessaloniki Stavros, Vrasna and Asprovalta, in the regional district Serres Nea Nea Kerdylia and Amphipoli and the regional district Kavala Kariani and Orfani.

In Strymonic golf there is only a small, uninhabited island: Kafkanas or Kapros. It is located a few kilometers off the east coast of Chalkidiki, in the amount of the village Olymbiada or in the amount of ancient Stagira.
