The Australian cattle thief and folk hero Harry Redford, the 459 km long connecting first used in 1870 to drive a 600 to 1000 large herd of cattle from Queensland to South Australia to Blanche Water cattle station in order to sell them. The ruins of this station can be seen from the Strzelecki Track from.

From this point on the road followed earlier on the creek, but now leads directly to the north where it opens up di oil and gas fields at Moomba. In Moomba the road bends sharply to the east, crossing the Strzelecki Creek and the Old Strzelecki Track again and also opens up the gas field at Della.
