Subordination (linguistics)
In connection with the combination of two sentences or partial sentences (English clauses ) a distinction is made subordinate clauses ( subordinate phrases) and main clauses ( subordinating phrases); the subordinate ( "child" ) set depends so by subordinating ( " parent " ) set. A distinction
- Relative clauses, also called attribute sets:
" The car that shines in the sun is red. "
- Adverbialsätze that have an adverbial function:
" What he also started, he was always interrupted. "
- Komplementsätze acting as a subject or object of the parent record:
