SugarCRM

SugarCRM is an open- source software for customer relationship management. SugarCRM is based on the PHP scripting language. As a database system can be used in addition to MySQL and MariaDB binary compatible to Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle DB; latter only in the Enterprise version.

For the Vtiger CRM was originally resorted to the source code of SugarCRM, to develop a purely open source -based CRM.

CEO of SugarCRM since 2009, Larry Augustin, who was also one of the driving forces behind SourceForge, one based on a web page collection of open source software projects. Augustine is convinced that open source produces better software than proprietary alternatives, the user gives more control especially.

License and product variants

SugarCRM is available in five variants, Ultimate, Enterprise, Corporate, Professional and Community Edition (CE), the first four variants are chargeable; the license is given to each user.

Depending on the license models, there are also different variations in use. There are Sugar On -Demand, an ASP solution, Sugar Cube, a solution that SugarCRM and the necessary hardware for use SugarCRM includes, and Sugar On - Site, the software-only solution in which the customer and itself for the hardware installation is responsible.

The Community Edition has been released up to version 5.0 under the terms of the GNU GPLv3. Mid-April 2010, SugarCRM has announced to release the source code from version 6.0 under the terms of the Affero GPLv3.

Extensions

SugarCRM itself provides, inter alia, to a programming interface via SOAP and REST. Further extensions and modules for SugarCRM can be found at Sugar Forge, a platform in the style of SourceForge, which programmers and projects to assist in SugarCRM -related development.
