Sujata Nahar

Sujata Nahar ( born 1925 in Kolkata, † 4 May 2007) was a student of Aurobindo, Mirra Alfassa and life partner of Satprem.

Life

Sujata lived in her childhood in the small town of Shantiniketan, north of Kolkata, the poet Rabindranath Tagore founded. After the early death of their mother's father moved to Pondicherry in the ashram of Aurobindo. The children followed him and Sujata came there in 1935 at the age of nine years. They first received private lessons and then worked as a secretary for Pavitra, the French engineer and chemist, who later became head of the newly founded university was. She was also active in the educational work of the Ashram. Satprem, who arrived early in 1954 in the Ashram and the older students taught, Pavitra helped numerous correspondence and translations of books Aurobindo into French. This joint work brought Satprem and Sujata together. From 1965 to Sujata regularly accompanied Satprem in his meetings with the mother. After his mother's death, there was a rift between Satprem and the person in charge of the ashram. After the release of the trilogy Mère, in the Satprem the tape material was evaluated for the first time, he was referred to by the management of the ashram as ' persona non grata ' and was forced to leave the ashram. Sujata followed him. They lived together another 29 years in which they work solely in the consciousness of the Integral Yoga devoted to how it had been designed by Aurobindo and the Mother. Sujata died on 4 May 2007 at the age of 81 years.
