Sulcus
Sulcus (Latin, German " trench ", " furrow ", Pl sulci, but also a Feigenart ) referred to:
- In planetary geology term for parallel ditches and furrows caused by geological processes;
- In the anatomy of a generally channel or groove (see fissure ), for example limit on the brain surface, where the sulci, the gyri ( gyri ) (eg, central sulcus, which lies between the frontal and parietal lobes which, or the lateral sulcus between the temporal and parietal lobes, or parieto-occipital sulcus, which separates the occipital lobe forward ); or
- As bone channels, such as the sulcus carpi at the wrist root;
- The furrow between the tooth and gums known as form part of the marginal periodontium in dentistry, where the gingival sulcus;
- The sulcus of the heart as a " ring furrow " between atrium and ventricle;
- The sulcus nasolabialis, the nasal labial furrow;
