Sulęczyno

Sulęczyno [ sulɛntʃɨnɔ ] ( German Sullenschin, Kashubian Sëlëczëno ) is a place in the Polish Kashubian region, approximately 60 kilometers west of Gdynia and Gdańsk. The place is home to a rural community and is part of the powiat Kartuski in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

General

The small town with about 1,500 inhabitants receives its meaning primarily through the recreational activities within the area. The inhabitants live primarily from tourism, mainly confined to the summer months. Through the town, the province road 228 leads from Kartuzy after Bytów.

Landscape

Sulęczyno is a moraine formed during the Ice Age with a strong hills, heathland vegetation and many lakes. In summer, the place is popular as a holiday destination because of its mild climate and the proximity of the Baltic Sea among many Poles. An attraction in summer is known throughout Poland Jazz Festival "Jazz w Lesie ", which usually takes place in August.
