Sulzbach (Nidda)

The Sulzbach is a good twelve kilometer long, orographic right and geographically northern tributary of the Nidda in Hesse ( Germany ).

Name

The name component " Sulz " is derived from Old High German sulza with the meaning salt water, brine.

Geography

Course

The Sulzbach springs west of the locust forest and south of King Stone Mammolshain ( within the district of Bad Soden). It flows in a south- southeasterly direction through the district of Bad Soden- Altenhain. Then it traverses in a southeasterly direction, the cities Bad Soden, Sulzbach ( Taunus). Then it flows through a range of fields and meadows to arrive in the city of Frankfurt am Main after passing under the motorway 66. In the area of the district Frankfurt- Sossenheim of Sulzbach flows on the southwestern edge of the Sossenheimer subfield in the Nidda.
