Sumitomo Heavy Industries

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd.. (Japanese住友 重 机械 工业 株式会社, Sumitomo Jukikai Kōgyō kabushiki - gaisha ) is a Japanese engineering company.

It was founded in 1888 as Kōsakugata (工作 方) in order for the Besshi copper mine (别 子 铜山, Besshi Dozan ) to maintain machines and repair.

In 1934, almost 50 years later, the company reached as Sumitomo Kikai KK Seisaku (住友 机械 制作 株式会社, dt " Sumitomo Machinery production," engl. Sumitomo Machinery Co., Ltd.). Tremendous growth through the development of machines and equipment for the steel and transportation industries. In 1940 the company is renamed Sumitomo Kikai KK Kōgyō (住友 机械 工业 株式会社, dt " Sumitomo engineering " ), 1945 in Shikoku Kikai KK Kōgyō (四 国 机械 工业 株 式 会), and in 1952 returned to Sumitomo Kikai KK Kōgyō

1969 merged the Sumitomo Kikai Seisaku K. K. with the Uraga Senkyo. (浦 贺 船 渠, dt " Uraga Dock", engl. Uraga Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.). Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. In the following years, the company continues its expansion into new markets. Today, the extensive product range of injection molding machines to laser systems and SMT machines, weapons ranges (eg, the Sumitomo NTK -62 as the standard machine gun of the JSDF ) to liquid crystal manufacturing equipment.

2011 Sumitomo bought the industrial gear division of Hansen Transmissions, Hansen Industrial Transmissions (HIT ).
