Sun City is a former census-designated place in Riverside County in the U.S. state of California, United States. Along with the Census-designated places Menifee, Quail Valley, Paloma Valley and portions of Romoland Sun City was merged on October 1, 2008 City of Menifee.

Geography

Sun City was in the west of Riverside County, California, United States. The town had 17,773 inhabitants (as of 2000) and stretched out on an area of 20.2 km ². To the north lay Perris. An important transport links presented the Interstate 215 dar.

History

The place was designed as a planned city for residents over 55 years. It included two golf courses, two recreation centers with tennis courts and swimming pool as well as a shopping center with small shops.

Sun City was built in 1960 along with three other of Sun City, California. Of Sun City are cities for retirees who were launched by Del Webb.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Sun City could benefit in the southeast by the construction of the neighboring town Menifee. The area was in 2005 still in development.

On 3 June 2008, decided the inhabitants of the Census-designated places Sun City, Menifee, Quail Valley, Paloma Valley and portions of Romoland to combine their hometowns for the City of Menifee. This change is effective as of October 1, 2008.

Policy

Sun City was part of the 37th district in the Senate of California, which is currently represented by Republican Mimi Walters, and the 65th District of the California State Assembly, represented by Democrat Sharon Quirk - Silva. In addition, Sun City California belonged to 49th Congressional District, the Cook Partisan Voting Index one of R 5 and is represented by Republican Darrell Issa.

The former Sun City, together with the entire Menifee Valley a strictly conservative and Republican region in the Southern California Inland Empire dar.

From 2001 to 2007 the area around Sun City was hit hard by the housing crisis in the U.S..
