Sun Peaks Resort

Sun Peaks Resort is a ski resort 50 km ( distance traveled ) northeast of Kamloops in British Columbia, Canada.

Before July 1993 Sun Peaks was known as Tod Mountain, named after the highest ski mountain at the resort. The first chairlift, the Burfield Chair, and just as the Burfield Lodge opened in 1961. In 1968, the elevator has been damaged by fire, so that he had to be closed for repairs until December 1970.

In 1992, Tod Mountain from the Nippon Cable Company Ltd. was. purchased from Tokyo.

The ski area covers the three mountains Tod Mountain, Sundance Mountain and Mt Morrisey.

Sun Peaks is located in Neskonlith -Douglas Reserve. The expansion of the ski area and the commercial development of the region are therefore controversial.
