Sunshu Ao

Sunshu Ao (Chinese孙叔敖/孙叔敖, Pinyin Sunshu Áo; * ca 630 BC, † ca 593 BC) was an advisor to the Chinese King Zhuang, and Chancellor of Chu. As such, he was responsible for many aspects of the state. Sunshu Ao is referred to as the first hydraulic engineer of China because it agriculture in Chu strengthened by the construction of irrigation systems. Among other things, he built in Anhui during Quebei Irrigation Project the dam of the reservoir of Anfengtang, which still exists today.
