Susan Carter Holmes

Susan Carter Holmes ( born 1933 ) is a British botanist and Taxonomin at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. She discovered and described more than 200 species of the spurge family ( Euphorbiaceae ), particularly the succulent euphorbias from East Africa, and about 20 aloes. All their publications appeared under her birth name Susan Carter; her official botanical author abbreviation is accordingly " S.Carter ".

Since the founding of the International Euphorbia Society ( IES ) in 2005 Susan Carter Holmes is their President.

In the plant genus Euphorbia are the types Euphorbia carteriana probally, Euphorbia holmesiae Lavranos and Euphorbia susan - holmesiae Binojk. & Gopalan been named after her.
