Susan Kramer, Baroness Kramer

Susan Veronica Kramer, Baroness Kramer of Richmond Park in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames ( born July 21, 1950 Metropolitan Borough of Holborn ) is a manager and a politician of the Liberal Democrats, which was between 2005 and 2010 members of the House of Commons since 2010 and is a life Peeress member of the House of Lords.

Life

Studies, career and unsuccessful House candidate

After visiting the St Paul 's Girls ' School Susan Kramer graduated in subjects philosophy, political science and economics at St Hilda's College, University of Oxford, and during this time was 1971 President of the Oxford Union. After she completed postgraduate studies in business administration at the University of Illinois with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). After finishing her studies she was manager at Citibank and got there at last to the Vice President.

Susan Kramer candidate in the general election on 1 May 1997 as the candidate of the Liberal Democrats in the constituency of Dulwich and West Norwood for the first time for a seat in the House of Commons, but suffered a defeat. She then took several leading positions at the Liberal Democrats and was between 1997 and 2000 Member of the Executive Board of the Women's Association and at the same time between 1997 and 2003 Member of the Executive Board of the Liberal Democrats in London.

2000 Susan Kramer ran for the Liberal Democrats for the office of Mayor of London. Although they got the best result of second votes with 404 815 votes, she won with 203 452 votes only fourth place, so that ultimately the independent candidate Ken Livingstone won.

Furthermore, it was also from 2001 to 2004 Member of the Federal Executive Board of the Liberal Democrats and from 2001 to 2002 leader of the Liberal Democrats in Twickenham and Richmond.

House of Deputies and the House of Lords member

In the general election on 5 May 2005, she succeeded in the constituency of Richmond Park, the election of Deputies of the House. However, she lost her parliamentary seat already in the subsequent election on May 6, 2010. They thus became one of the losers of their party, although was able to gain 1.0 percent of the vote, but lost 5 of their 62 lower house seats in the House of Commons. At the beginning of its deputies she was a 2005-2006 member of the Treasury Committee of the House.

During her five-year parliament membership she was between 2005 and 2006 first spokesperson of the Liberal Democrats for the Treasury (Treasury ), and was followed by 2009 the shadow cabinet of their party, and indeed in 2006 as Shadow Minister for International Development and then from 2006 to 2007 as shadow Minister for Trade and Industry, before 2007 was shadow transport minister. Most recently, she served from 2007 to 2009 as Shadow Minister for the Liberal Democrats for the Cabinet Office and for the office of Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

By Letters Patent of 22 December 2010 Susan Kramer was raised to the peerage after leaving the House of Commons as a life peer with the title Baroness Kramer of Richmond Park in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Shortly thereafter, took place on January 10, 2011 their introduction ( Introduction) as a member of the House of Lords. In the upper house he belongs to the Group of the Liberal Democrats.
