Susan Rose-Ackerman

Susan Rose- Ackerman ( born April 23, 1942 in Mineola, New York as Susan Rose) is an American economist.

Career

Rose- Ackerman studied at Wellesley College, where she graduated in June 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts. Then she went to Yale University. After the 1967 Master of Philosophy took off there, she earned the 1970 Ph. D. in economics.

After Rose- Ackerman was 1972-1974 at the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant professor, she returned to Yale. In 1982, she moved to Columbia University and further renamed in 1983 as director of the Columbia Law School. In 1987, she came again to Yale and took over in 1992 the Henry R. Luce Chair of Philosophy of Law at Yale Law School.

She is married to Bruce Arnold Ackerman since 1967.

Teaching and research

The emphasis in Rose- Ackerman's work lies in the tension between state and law, especially in the field of corruption research. In addition, it deals with political economy, administrative law, public finance and environmental law.
