Susanne Wasum-Rainer

Susanne Marianne Wasum -Rainer ( born July 31, 1956 in Mainz ) is a German diplomat and ambassador to France.

Life

Susanne Wasum -Rainer began after graduating from high school in 1975 to study law at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and later at the University of Passau and the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich and graduated in 1981 and their first in 1984 her second state examination. In 1983, her Doctorate in Law. at the University of Passau with a dissertation on The International Tribunal for the system of compulsory dispute settlement procedures of the Sea Convention. After two years of research at the Foundation for Science and Politics Susanne Wasum -Rainer joined in 1986 to train as a higher Foreign Service.

After completion of the Attaché training and completion of career examination they found from 1987 to 1989, first used in the headquarters of the Federal Foreign Office in Bonn and later at the embassy in Morocco. After a new use in the headquarters of the Foreign Office from 1991 to 1993 she worked in the embassy in Israel and in the port to 1997. At the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva

In 2000, Susanne Wasum -Rainer returned to the office and was first officer, then in 2002 and in 2006 Head of Unit Officer. She was most recently between 2009 and 2012 Head of the Legal Department of the Foreign Office and international law advisor to the federal government.

Since August 2012, Susanne Wasum -Rainer German Ambassador to France and the first woman to hold the post. On the ambassadorship in Paris, she was succeeded by Reinhard Schäfer, who in turn was ambassador to Italy. Wasum -Rainer succeeded in late autumn 2012 - the anniversary "50 years of Elysee Agreement" - that the project United Buddy Bears for 6 weeks on the Champ de Mars at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, could be present. The exhibition in Paris served to underline the good relations between France and Germany and between Paris and Berlin.

She is widowed and has a daughter.
