Sutherland Brothers

Sutherland Brothers & Quiver was a Scottish folk rock band, in particular, by their success titles Arms of Mary (1976 # 5 in the UK charts ) was known.

The two brothers Iain ( born November 17 1948) and Gavin (* October 6, 1951 ) Sutherland began her musical career in 1968 and 1972 were members of the band Quiver, which renamed itself shortly afterwards in Sutherland Brothers & Quiver.

1976, the group managed with the song Arms of Mary, an international success. Another small success was achieved in November 1976 even with the piece Secrets (ranked 35 in the UK charts ). In 1972, Gavin Sutherland had the song Sailing written, in a version by Rod Stewart was a worldwide hit in 1975.

The further work of the group was essentially limited to the folk scene in the UK.

Trivia

  • Keyboardist Peter Wood ( s ) later worked with Cyndi Lauper and participated in the stage tour of Pink Floyd's The Wall in 1980 and 1981. In 1993 he arrived in New York in unexplained circumstances killed.
  • Drummer John " Willie" Wilson also accompanied Pink Floyd toured and played on the first solo album by David Gilmour.
  • Tim Renwick (guitar) played with Al Stewart and Pink Floyd.
  • Bruce Thomas ( bass) played in the backing band The Attractions Elvis Costello.
