Suvla

Suvla is a bay in the west of the Gallipoli Peninsula.

The landing at the Bay of Suvla and the subsequent attack of the last major attempt was (also known as the August offensive ) of the British to take control of the Gallipoli Peninsula. Suvla played an important role in the defense of the peninsula by the Turks in the Battle of Gallipoli.

The name of the bay Suvla was during the 70's again an issue in public, as Eric Bogle in 1972 his Folk Song And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda published.
