Svaneholm Castle

Svaneholm Castle stands in Skurup about 40 kilometers east of the Swedish city of Malmö in Skåne.

Around 1530 a castle made ​​of brick was built on an island in Svaneholmssjö under Mourids Jespen Sparre. A short time later it was expanded in the Renaissance style. End of the 17th century was Axel Gyllenstierna increase the east wing and converted in the style of the Italian Baroque. After that, no more major changes were made, only the moat surrounding the castle was filled in during the 19th century.

After the death of the last owner in 1935, the home club bought the castle. Today it houses a museum and a restaurant.
