Sven Andersson

Sven Andersson ( born October 6, 1963 in Strömstad, Sweden ) is a former Swedish football player. He now works as a goalkeeping coach.

Career

Andersson played in the Youth for IFK Strömstad. In 1980, the goalkeeper to Örgryte IS in the Division 1 with the club he made at the end of season promotion to the Allsvenskan. In 1985 he became Swedish champion with the club, as Örgryte IS was able to prevail in the championship finals in two a 4-2 win and a 2:3 defeat to IFK Göteborg.

Andersson 1991 announced his retirement from professional football and returned to IFK Strömstad. However, after only one season, he was persuaded by those responsible for Helsingborgs IF to make a comeback and was from 1993, back in goal in the Allsvenskan. In 1998 he won the trophy with the club, one year later, the win was in the championship. In 2001, he finished after 233 first division matches in a row his career final. Ironically, in his last match, the 431 used in the Allsvenskan, he was sent off with a red card. After end of his career he was goalkeeping coach at HIF.

Andersson was careful once the gate of the Swedish national team. As a replacement for Lars Eriksson and Thomas Ravelli, he was appointed as the third goalkeeper in the squad at the 1990 World Cup.
