Svilen Rusinov

Swilen Alidow Rusinow ( Bulgarian Свилен Алидов Русинов, English transcription Svilen Alidov Rusinov; * February 29, 1964 in Pleven ) is a Bulgarian former amateur boxer in the super heavyweight ( 91 kg). He was 1991 and 1993 Vice World Champion and 1993 European champions. His greatest achievement was winning a bronze medal at the Summer Olympics of 1992.

He also won bronze medals at the World Championships in 1986 and the European Championships of 1987, 1989 and 1991.

Light Heavyweight

His only international appearance in this weight class was that at the 26th European Championship in June 1985 in Budapest, where he was defeated in the first battle of the Romanians Petre Bornescu.

Heavyweight

At the 4th World Cup in May 1986 in Reno (Nevada ), he only lost in the semifinals Félix Savón and thus won bronze. Previously, he defeated Poland Wieslaw DYLA (5:0) and the Finn Jouni Koopola (5-0 ).

At the 27th European Championship in June 1987 in Turin, he defeated the Hungarian Gyula Alvics and only lost in the semifinals Arnold Vanderlyde which he received the bronze medal.

He also participated in the 24th Summer Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 in part, subject to there, however, in the first fight Andrzej Gołota. For his participation in the second Goodwill Games in Seattle in 1990, he was defeated Viktor Akshonov.

Super Heavyweight

At the 7th European Junior in September 1982 in Schwerin, Rusinow defeated in the quarterfinals Sven Karberg from the GDR. In 1985 he won the bronze medal at the Military Championships of the Soviet bloc. In the first Goodwill Games in July 1986 in Moscow, he lost to American Michael Bentt.

The 28th European Championship in June 1989 in Athens, he finished with the bronze medal. He had beaten Aziz Salihu (5-0 ) and only lost in the semifinals just the Greeks Giorgios Tsahakis (2:3). At the 5th World Championship in October in Moscow in 1989, he defeated the American Larry Donald, but then lost against Cuban Roberto Balado.

The sixth World Cup in 1990 in Bombay, he finished with the silver medal. He was there again inferior to Roberto Balado in the final.
