Svrljig

Svrljig ( Serbian Cyrillic Сврљиг ) is a Serbian city of Nis in Okrug with 7543 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). It is the administrative seat of Opština Svrljig.

Geography

Svrljig is located in South-East Serbia, 30 km from Niš. 70 % of the area consist of hills or mountains. The city is surrounded by the mountains Svrljiške planina. To the south rises to 1334 m altitude the Zeleni vrh, the Paješki came ( 1074 m) is located in the east of the city, Tresibaba (786 m ) in the north and Kalafat ( 839 m ) in the west. In the northwest borders Svrljig to the region Golak, on the north by Knjaževac, to the south by the Belopalanačka kotlina and beyond Sicevacka klisura, the valleys of Nis and Aleksinac in the South and Southwest.
