The Swedish Lapphund is a recognized by the FCI Swedish breed (FCI Group 5, Section 3, Standard No. 135), which is counted to the Lapphunden.

Origin and History

The Swedish and Finnish Lapphund have the common ancestors and were bred from dogs that were once held by nomadic living rag and seeds in northern Europe. The robust and persistent dogs are used for hunting and herding and guarding of the herds of reindeer, which formed the basis of life of these peoples for centuries.

Use

Even today, the breed is used as a herding dog. It is now very popular not only in her native Sweden as well as a companion dog.

Nature

The really little aggressive dog tends however to be very happy barking at strangers, which can be generally limited by early socialization.
