Swedish Radiation Safety Authority

Strålsäkerhetsmyndigheten ( Radiation Safety Authority) is the Swedish Radiation Protection Authority and security in the nuclear energy.

The Authority is proactive and preventive to improve radiation protection and the safety of people and the environment from the effects of nuclear energy continuously and the proliferation of nuclear weapons to reduce ( NPT / Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty ). These active international cooperation and documentation is operated for the exchange of knowledge and experience (eg in reports ): When the UN with the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA (English IAEA), the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effect of Atomic Radiation UNSCEAR and the World Health Organization WHO continue with the NEA Nuclear Energy Agency of the OECD and the International Commission on Radiological Protection, ICRP.

The Ministry of the Environment under its authority set up in 2008 from the now defunct Statens kärnkraftinspektion out and has its headquarters in Stockholm. She has a budget of about 400 million crowns per year and 240 employees. The authority is headed by General Director Ann -Louise Eksborg, who was appointed by the Swedish Government.
