Sweet Home (Oregon)

Sweet Home is a small town in Linn County, Oregon, United States.

The term " Gateway to the Santiam Playground" for the place comes from the nearby lakes and rivers in the Cascade Range ago. The current Mayor ( City Manager) is Craig Fentiman. The motto of the city is Oregon at its best

History

Sweet Home Valley on the South Santiam River was settled in 1851. In 1893 the town was awarded city rights ( Municipal Corporation ).

Geography

Sweet Home has 8,016 inhabitants ( 2000 estimate for 2009: 8692 ). The population density was 580.7 people per square kilometer in 2000. The place has an area of 14.9 km ² ( land area: 13,8 sq km, Water area: 1.1 km ²).

Sweet Home is located near the intersection of state roads 228 and Oregon Route U.S. Route 20

The place is located at 163.7 meters above sea level.
