Åšwiekatowo

Świekatowo ( German: Schwekatowo, 1942-1945: Schweike ) is a village in Poland in the Province Kujawy in powiat Święcki. The village is the seat of the municipality of the same country. The village is about 35 kilometers north of Bydgoszcz on the railway line Bydgoszcz Gdynia.

History

War to the Prussian era (after the partitions of Poland ), a royal village with the Catholic Church.

When the Wehrmacht invaded Poland in September 1939, Świekatowo was already on September 2, 1939 largely destroyed by fighting. In 1942 the town was renamed in Schweike after he had been called to the Prussian era ( province of West Prussia) and again from 1939 Schwekatowo ( in former times also Schwenkotowo or Sickotowo called ). At the end of the Second World War, the Red Army invaded and subsequently the village was part of Poland again.
