The Academies of Sciences and Switzerland - also briefly academies, academies of science - (French Academies of Sciences Suisses, Italian Accademia delle svizzere scienze, rätoroman Academias svizras because scienzas read closely Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences.. ) Are a composite of the four scientific academies of Switzerland:

  • Academy of Natural Sciences Switzerland ( SCNAT)
  • Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences ( SAMS)
  • Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences ( SAHS )
  • Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences ( SATW)

The composite is designed to help the sciences regionally, nationally and internationally to network to represent the community of knowledge independent of institutions and subjects. And the network of wide support and commit to scientific excellence.

Other goals include early detection, ethics and dialogue between science and society in order to promote mutual understanding.

The Science et Cité Foundation and the Centre for Technology Assessment TA -SWISS are defined as centers of the Academies of Sciences of Switzerland.

Political Science Scholarships

Since 2000, the academies run a scholarship program, the young scientists supported to afford one year scientific background work for the Swiss Parliament. This mutual understanding is to be promoted and improved between science and politics. Gebert Ruef Foundation supported the scholarship program from 2002 until 2009. Since 2006, the policy grants from the Foundation of Political Science Scholarships are aligned, the and of the Academies of Sciences of Switzerland and the Swiss Parliament, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the ETH, the Swiss Universities will support other partners.
