Syed Sharifuddin Pirzada

Syed Pirzada Sharifuddin ( born June 12, 1923 in Burhanpur ) is a Pakistani civil servant and politician. He was Attorney General, Foreign Affairs and Justice Minister of his country.

Life

Pirzada is Barrister of Lincoln 's Inn and has a law degree from the University of Mumbai.

He represented Pakistan on a number of international conferences.

Pakistani government

Pirzada was from 1965 to 1966, from May 1968 to December 1971 and from July 1977 to December 1984 Pakistani Attorney General. He was both the youngest and the longest-serving officer to hold the post.

Between his terms of office as Attorney General he was from July 20, 1966 to May 25, 1968 Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

From 1979 to 1985 he was Minister of Justice.

From 1999 to 2008 he was a member of the National Security Council of Pakistan.

Islam

Pirzada was Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation between 1985 until 1988.

United Nations

Pirzada Between 1981 and 1986 Member of the International Law Commission.

In 1995, he was Chairman of the Pakistan Delegation to the UN Human Rights Commission.

Awards

Pirzade received the Nishan -e- Imtiaz, the highest civilian award of Pakistan.
