Sylvia Nasar

Sylvia Nasar ( born August 17, 1947 in Rosenheim) is a professor of journalism at Columbia University. She is the daughter of a German mother and an Uzbek father. Her family moved in 1951 to the United States (Washington, DC and New York) and in 1960 in Turkey ( Ankara). 1965 returned to her family back in the United States. She studied economics, among others in New York and Munich.

In 1998 she published by Simon & Schuster 's biography of the mathematician John F. Nash A Beautiful Mind. In Germany the book was published under the titles on the strange seas of thought ( Piper, 1999) or genius and insanity. The life of the brilliant mathematician John Nash ( TB Piper, 2002). The film adaptation of the book by Ron Howard in 2001, won four Oscars.
