Sylvia Rafael

Sylvia Rafael ( born April 1, 1937 in South Africa; † 9 February 2005 in Pretoria ) was an Israeli intelligence agent.

Life

She was born in 1937 near Cape Town, the daughter of a Jewish father and a Christian mother. In 1963 she emigrated to Israel and lived first on a kibbutz. Later she worked as a teacher. After she moved to Tel Aviv, she was recruited by the Mossad. Sylvia Rafael received her training at Mossad agent as a " father figure " Jakoov Meidad aka Anton Künzle. She was sent as an agent to Paris, where she used the name of the really existing Canadian photojournalist Patricia Roxburgh. In addition, she participated in the murder of masterminds of the Olympic assassination.

She was sentenced in 1974 in Norway for their involvement in the assassination of Ahmed Bouchikis in Lillehammer on July 21, 1973 five and a half years' imprisonment. After only 15 months in prison, she was released and reported in May 1975 from Norway. Bouchiki had been confused with the Black - September terrorist leader Ali Hassan Salameh.

She married her Norwegian defense lawyers Annaeus Schjødt, retired from the Israeli secret service and traveled to Norway. In Norway, it was later accused of terrorism and 1977 has been included again. In 1992 she moved with her husband to South Africa where she died of leukemia in 2005.
