Synovial bursa

A bursa ( synovial bursa in Latin ) is a small fluid-filled sacs that occurs in the area of the musculoskeletal system at locations with increased mechanical pressure. When tissues strong train or pressure exposed to the bursa is used to reduce the pressure and the friction between tendon, muscle, bone and skin.

Construction

Bursae exist as the joint capsule and tendon sheaths of a

  • Outer fibrous layer ( connective tissue ) and a
  • Inner stratum synovial ( synovial ). The stratum secretes synovial bursa, the fluid ( synovial fluid ).

After the situation is different:

  • Skin bursa (Bursa subcutanea ): You are supported on areas of the skin where it rests directly a bone;
  • Tendon bursa (Bursa subtendinea ): They are between tendons and bony support;
  • Band bursa (Bursa subligamentosa ): They lie between bands and bony surface.

After her appearance, a distinction:

  • Constant ( congenital ) bursa: You are innate and exists in all individuals in the same place;
  • Reactive (acquired ) bursa: They arise only after birth and do not have to be present in all individuals. Many skin bursae arise only reactive.

In humans, following bursae occur:

Inflammation of a bursa is called bursitis and the inflammatory response to irritation. It usually arises from pressure, a slight injury or overload. Rare is an infection with bacteria that cause.

Even with internal diseases may be involved one or more bursae. Here are primarily inflammatory rheumatic diseases or metabolic disorders (eg gout) to call.
