Szandra Lajtos

Szandra Lajtos ( born July 22, 1986 in Szeged ) is a Hungarian Shorttrackerin.

She first attracted international attention in 2002. She started at the Junior World Championships and the World Championships in Montreal, retired from there but in the heats. In Salt Lake City, she participated in her first Olympic Games, where he was 15 years old the youngest participant in the short track speed skating. It started about 500 m and 1000 m, but could not survive the prelims. After that, it was not until the 2003/04 season until Lajtos took up again at the international season highlights. In February 2004, she made her debut in Mladá Boleslav in the World Cup, their best result was reaching the quarterfinals over 500 m. However, at the World Championships in Gothenburg she divorced again in all three heats. The following season, 2004/ 05 Lajtos launched only at the home World Cup in Budapest and in the relay at the European Championships in Turin, but could not get through heats. But significantly more successful then ran the season 2005/06. She participated in five World Cups, and moved in with two 500 m races into the quarterfinals, and on two relay race the semi-finals. At the Junior World Cup in Miercurea Ciuc and the European Championships in Krynica -Zdrój, she won bronze in the relay respectively and celebrated their first international medal winnings. A year later reached Lajtos in the relay again the finals at the European Championships in Sheffield, where the quartet was however disqualified.

In the following years Lajtos failed to make it to the Hungarian World Cup team and launched only in smaller competitions. Only in the 2009/10 season she took as a relay runner again part in the World Cup. Two semi-finals, the season for the Olympic Games in Vancouver qualified. Lajtos however, was at the games only substitute runner of the season and was not used in the races. At season's end, she took part in Bormio at the World Team Championships. The Hungarian Teamn won the B final and finished fifth. In the season 2010/11 Lajtos was also reinstated in individual races. With two World Cup they reached about 1000 m the quarter-finals at the European Championships in Heerenveen over 500 m the semi-finals and the World Championship in Sheffield over 500 m the quarter-finals. With the season they also won the silver medal at the European Championships. Also in the 2011/12 season won Lajtos with a bronze medal at the European Championship Season in Mladá Boleslav.
