Szczepankowice

Szczepankowice ( German Schön Bankwitz ) is a village in the municipality Kobierzyce in Poland. It is located 21 kilometers south-west of Breslau ( Wrocław) and belongs to the powiat of Wroclaw.

Until the early 20th century Tschönbankwitz called, then Schön Bank joke. 1937, in the era of National Socialism, Germanized in " Schönlehn ". Name interpretation: property and residence of love Stephen.

Village and manor with Vorwerk ( Fideikommiss up in the 20s of the last century ). There are remains of the ring wall of a medieval castle and royal burial mounds of Unetice culture. A deed dated March 25, 1286 of the Duke Henry of Silesia, Lord of Breslau, mentioned as the owner of Stephan Stepancowitz. The same document also mentions a mayor Gerhardt, showing that there had been at this time in Tschönbankwitz a Freischoltisei - thus stood here in the Middle Ages ethnic German settlers under German law.

From 1789 to 1945 in the hands of the family von Coester, which, from the county of Mansfeld Coming ( Silesian Incolat 1786), had also acquired the neighboring manor small Bresa and Erbscholtisei Langenöls in 1789. Previously owned by the old Silesian noble family von Ohlow.

The country district in 1874 with the neighboring rural community of Jack Schönau ( 1937 swords called today Jaksonow ) brings together for the District Jack Schönau. Chief Administrator was the owner of the manor Tschönbankwitz, deputy of the manor Jack Schönau ( Owner: v. Stegmann and stone). The estate districts was only in 1928 that incorporated the office district.

1898, the railway line from Koberwitz by Heider village had been opened and was thus Tschönbankwitz station.

In the census of 1939 a population of 420 was determined.
