Szentpéterfa

Szentpéterfa ( Prostrum German, Croatian Petrovo Selo ) is a town in Vas county in western Hungary. From the Burgenland border it lies three kilometers east between Szombathely and Körmend, on the river Pinka. The population in 2011 was 957

History

The place is inhabited since the Roman era. In the first written document in 1221 he is mentioned as Ecclesia S. Petri. The inhabitants have 80% Croatian descent.

The village came in the fall of 1921 under the Treaties of St. Germain in 1919, and Trianon in 1920, with large parts of German - western Hungary (Burgenland) to Austria, but it was 1923 on a proposal from the government of Burgenland in exchange for the villages Rattersdorf and Liebing at Güns ( Kőszeg ) to Hungary back broken. Its north and south neighboring communities in the lower Pinkatal, Eberau and Moschendorf, remained in Austria.

Attractions

The Roman Catholic church of the 15th century was rebuilt in the 17th century to a Baroque church.
