Szilárd Keresztes

Szilárd Keresztes ( born July 19, 1932 in Nyíracsád, Hungary) is a retired bishop of the Greek Catholic Diocese Hajdúdorog.

Life

Szilárd Keresztes was born in 1932 in the Hungarian town of Nyíracsád, in the historic county of Szabolcs, today Szabolcs- Szatmár- Bereg.

On August 7, 1955 at the age of 23 Szilárd Keresztes was ordained by the donations of the sacrament to the Greek Catholic priest in the Uniate diocese Hajdúdorog.

Twenty years later, on 7 January 1975, was at the age of 42 years, the Suffragan bishop in Hajdúdorog. At the same time Keresztes was appointed Titular Bishop of Chunavia. The bishop ordained Szilárd Keresztes on February 8, 1975 Bishop Imre Timko as principal consecrator; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Joakim Segedi and Bishop József Cserháti.

The appointment as bishop in the Greek Catholic Diocese Hajdúdorog and Apostolic Vicar Apostolic Exarchate in Miskolc took place at the age of 55 years on 30 June 1988.

In the episcopal ordination of his successor Fülöp Kocsis Bishop Szilárd Keresztes was himself principal consecrator. November 10, 2007 Szilárd Keresztes put his line down duties as bishop and apostolic vicar in the diocese of Hajdúdorog at the age of 75 years.

Overall, Szilárd Keresztes had been bishop for 33 years, also 53 years active in pastoral ministry.
